Breast cancer is one of the greatest global health challenges, with a significant impact not only on mortality but also on the social and economic aspects of the lives of patients and their families. In 2020, 2.3 million new diagnoses were recorded, accounting for 11.7% of all cancer cases worldwide. Despite progress in prevention and treatment, significant challenges remain, such as gaps in information, lack of skills, and social inequalities, which often lead to preventable cancer cases. These inequalities are particularly pronounced in rural areas and among populations with lower education levels, making the need for improved access to prevention and information even more pressing.
As part of the MELIORA project, attention is focused on ensuring ethical standards, coordinated management of expertise, and the effective implementation of breast cancer prevention programs for all social groups. Through the active involvement of all stakeholders, a detailed analysis of the current situation is carried out, and strategies are developed that respond to the real needs of target populations. At the same time, tailored educational materials and standardized procedures are created to support the sustainable implementation of the MELIORA Virtual Coach. This tool, supported by artificial intelligence algorithms and modern digital technologies, aims to improve access to and the quality of breast cancer prevention, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable social groups.
BioAssist is involved in this new and innovative project under the Horizon Europe program, aiming to prevent breast cancer. The company plays a central role, leading the development and implementation of the mobile and web applications for MELIORA. These applications, which will be available in multiple languages, serve as the primary communication points with study participants. They offer personalized guidance and feedback through the Virtual Coach, aiming to facilitate the adoption of healthy behaviors and improve breast cancer prevention.
